John's Double weekend!

Win at Salt Ayre

Last weekend I competed in Round 2 of the Lancaster University Cycling Club circuit races at Salt Ayre on the Saturday and CDNW Saighton on the Sunday. After a decent first outing round Salt Ayre the weekend before, I was looking forward to racing again. With Myself, Chris, Jake and Jordan all riding in the event for TeamWallis we knew we had the numbers to try and get a result. After none of the early moves stuck, at around the halfway mark I clipped away with a few others and with everyone in the break committing there was a good chance it would stay away. Eventually the break grew to 12, and included all 4 TeamWallis riders. After a brief chat with Chris on what the plan was going to be, with 2 laps to go on I rode off the front with another rider and we quickly opened up a good gap. We shared the work well but as I wasn’t too keen on it going down to a sprint I kicked through hard with 3/4 of a lap to go and soloed to the win. Jordan took the bunch sprint for 3rd while Chris was 6th and Jake 8th to round off a good team performance.
